If you sat and thought about it long enough I’m sure you’d find enough reasons against it. I’ve seen the shift the ground can do and I’ve witnessed the oppressed, empty and vapid eyebrows of the manipulative and decaying pieces of what’s left of some, inhuman. I stand shaken and raw beyond my own capacity at times. Each wound I hide only comes back to haunt me eventually. A talent I have refined over decades, in varying states of numbness and openness beyond what I see reflected in the world. Some carry a protective shield that I yearn for. But at what cost do you cradle yourself too tightly? At what cost is it to fly? The exhaustion isn’t sustainable; yet the body, so temporary and fleeting keeps healing and keeps spouting to places it knows but hasn’t seen. Bruised knees on escalating repeat. A remembrance perhaps, foolish and sloppy and divine and incessant. Nothing will stop it only changes form. I’m scared I’ll miss the chance to press my nose against you again and I probably should have savoured it last time. But I was imagining what the sun did when you were born and what was it like? The peace known within water that trickles through my mind, bones and soothes my aching tissues. The mud that nourishes my heart and organs that gleam and shine in the very same sun.
